Let the Scrapbooking Begin!

I have been very excited by the response to this blog. Through email and comments I have learned that many people are in the same situation that I am in, I am WAY behind in scrapbooking and wish I had time to catch up. Well I can't stop time and I can't stop my crazy life, so I have tried to work out when I can fit it into my life. I am very lucky to have a room that I can have a layout sitting half done and keep going back to it but anybody can do this. Find a spot in your house that you can set up a cart table and get started. I used to get all stressed out about finding the right layout and getting all my supplies together. I guess I have gotten more comfortable with scrapbooking because most of the time I don't have a plan. I choose the pictures, usually about 8 for a 2 page spread, and lay them out, see what colors are standing out and start from there. I was able to do 2 layouts yesterday. I got both of my ideas from scrapbook magazines. I usually flip through the magazines and find a page where I like something on it and I work with it. I have posted pictures of the pages I did yesterday with a picture that I used as reference for one of the pages. I got my idea from the Creative Keepsakes magazine. I basically used the idea of putting a horizontal piece of patterned paper on a solid card stock. It was that easy. My pages are simple at this point because I am behind. The more simple I go the better I like it. I still have journaling to do, but that will come. Here is a question for you....Do you type your journaling or handwrite it? Just curious!

I challenge you to find a space that you can call your own, you deserve that!!!!

My Scrapbooking Closet pictures

The reason why my blog is called the scrapbooking closet is because I scrapbook in a walk in closet. My husband was tired of seeing my scrapbook stuff laying around in the family room and made me a scrapbook "office". I LOVE this room. It is my favorite color and I love the smell. I know it sounds weird but I can find peace in there. Here are some pictures of it. It may be a mess but it is my mess. What I like most about it is that it has a door with a lock. Make any space yours and embrace it.

Welcome to my Blog!

Let me first welcome you to my scrapbooking blog. The main reason for this blog is to encourage fellow scrapbookers and myself to get started and motivated to scrapbook. So many of my friends say they are SOOOOO behind in scrapbooking, years behind. I am four years behind in scrapbooking. Scrapbooking used to be a fun thing for me to do. I want to make it fun again and to get scrapping again. As mom's, we put so many things first, before ourselves and things that make us happy. I feel that I have lost who I am, throughout the years. Please don't take this the wrong way, I LOVE being a mom and a wife but I also like being Cheryl. I'm tired of making a New Year's resolution, to get caught up in scrapbooking. I want to enjoy and get creative in my scrapbooking. Last year I thought I could work on 3 albums at the same time and that would be the easiest way to get "caught up". Well now I have my 2006 album done up to July, 2007 is done up to April, and 2008 is done up to March. 2009 isn't started yet. Instead of feeling accomplished, I feel useless that I didn't get "caught up". I should be able to find time to do the things I love to do for myself.

I hope this blog gives encouragement and motivates people to do things they enjoy doing. I'm also a goal driven individual, and I hope this holds me accountable. I will post my lastest projects and let you know my accomplishments. When I get myself organized I will also ask for advice on new things. Sometimes I feel that my pages are in a rut. I would love to learn new things. Please post any comments and let me know your thoughts.

Happy Scrapping!!
